Check Engine Light in 2001 Camry , Code is P0420!!!!!!!!!!!?

Was it possible that the gas cap may have not been tightened properly. This can cause the check engine light to come on as well, and is very common in the GM vehicles that we drive not sure about Toyota though.. Just a thought.
